Anne Robinson - Ngayuku Ngura (My Country)

Sold out
Ngayuku Ngura (My Country) by Kerry Anne Robinson
Acrylic on linen
198 x 243cm

Kerry Ann paints the colours and shapes of the corrugated desert country. Her paintings take on a rhythm which suggests both a physical landscape traveled through and an internal sanctuary. The lines of sun-hardened creek beds and hidden tracks through scrub-land are vigorously laid out across the canvas, creating a sense of action painting which connects to a memory or experience of the dynamic and powerful land of the Yankunytjatjara people.

Iwantja Arts is an artist studio located within the remote Indigenous community of Indulkana, on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. Iwantja Arts is an Aboriginal corporation owned and governed by a board of directors. The art centre aims to encourage and support artistic excellence and cultural development within the community by providing opportunities, career development, and economic independence for practicing artists.

N.B. This painting is part of the Kungka Kunpu / Strong Women: Iwantja Arts Exhibition. Artworks will be available for pickup after the show finishes on 27th July.
