Ngayuku Ngura Walyjitjata (My country) by Imitjala Curley Artwork
Dimensions: 695mm x 895mm
Ink on Paper, Framed.
Imitjala Curley is closely connected with Walyjitjata, her mother, Puni Puni’s country. It is a small homeland just over the NT border about 46 km north of Kalka. Curley explains this is part of the Minyma kututja story of Walyjitjata. Minyma Kututja and her husband had many children. They travelled to Umutju (east of Walyjitjata). The oldest boy Wantama was homesick for their birth place, Kanpinin, near Waltjitjata. The children told their mother they were going back home with their eldest brother. Their mother sand a song to send them away. However, at Umutju they turned to stone, and can still be seen there today.
